Android viruses and other nonsense

I've been seeing a lot of buzz about Android security lately.

As an Android user, this just supports the feelings I had about the issues I've held personally on the whole matter.

Malware, Viruses and Lost Productivity.

Generally I'm a pretty patient guy who accepts people for who they are and don't wish anybody harm. But I really, really hate the people responsible for creating computer viruses, malware and phishing spam! They cause nothing but misery and aggravation for others.

Free Wifi and Personal VPNs

Wifi: I love it. What a great technology, and it just keeps getting faster. We're now talking about Gigabit wireless networks.

And when you're on the go there are tons of free hotspots waiting just waiting for your connection.

If you're out and about with your laptop/netbook/smartphone, then you probably opt to use these free wifi providers over 3g data plans.

But how safe is that? These can be minimal security internet gateways.

Boiling potatoes

With company coming this weekend, I've been planning the menu for a few days now. I'm including a potato salad and want to make sure it turns out right. I've had a hard time mastering the texture and flavoring of since I don't make it very often.

First step: Master the art of boiling potatoes. It sounds so simple: potatoes, water, heat. But a good boiled potato must be firm yet fully cooked. Not crumbling or peeling.

Homesick in January
