So I went to buy Quicken the other day...

I didn't plan to do very much boxing day shopping this year, but I did notice that Microsoft Office 2007 (Home and Student) was on sale for $50.

Considering we were planning to buy it anyway, it was a bargin so I headed out on December 26th to grab a copy. I also picked up a copy of Norton 360 for $50 as well, and since I was now entering a spree, I took a look at the accounting software. There were some small business accounting packages on sale for $25 (save over $50), but I had my eye on Quicken 2008 Home and Business.

Since it wasn't on sale, I figured I wouldnt sucumb to my consumer impusles and went to home to see if I could get a better deal online. What I found however, is that the reviews aren't all so favorable. The major issue is the number of significant bugs which can be inhibiting. Add to this that some content users of older versions of Quicken were forced to purchase this newer version because of online features that have been retired.

Unfortunetly there aren't a lot of options out there.

Well, I did buy it.

I think I've run into issues with the Web Connect feature. Web Connect is what you use to automatically download your transaction data from your bank account. For now I have to manually save the file to disk and then import it into Quicken as a .qfx file.

From what I can see on the Quicken Community forum, the US version has been patched to fix these. The Americans have version R3 (release 3?) and the Canucks are still using R1.
